Marie Antoinette

The final Queen of France, Marie Antoinette became a symbol of decadent despotism. Though she may have been guilty of extravagant spending, she was no different than the other monarchs and nobles of the time, who neglected the populace and lived sheltered lives of enormous privilege. Despite her failure as a ruler, she had moments of tremendous courage and leadership, including bowing before a mob attacking Versailles, and her final words before her execution, when she declared that she had possessed and shown her strength and courage for years. The Marie Antoinette collection pays homage to her fashion sense with a powdery purple background while her final words serve as a reminder that she was more than a pretty face with a royal budget.
